This is the Rumbelle “Untold Story” tidbit from the OUaT Facebook game.

So, yes, this is canon. This comes from the creators of the show. This is a thing that he actually wrote to her.

…………….

I AM OFFICIALLY DEAD.

BURY MY BODY.

THIS SHIP HAS KILLED ME.

Look at his face.

He literally cannot believe that he has this, has her, after all of the shit he’s pulled and after so many years of being cruel and bitter because of her death.

He has this gift he doesn’t deserve and all he has to do to keep it is promise her he’ll not let his life be ruled by hate.

You can literally see him struggling with the enormity of that.

There were Oncers at CTcon! I was thrilled!
Belle and Rumplestiltskin. They even had the chipped cup. :3

Perhaps this makes me a bad fan or a narrow-minded Rumbelle shipper but, as good as the rest of this finale was, as incredible as all that we learned was, as mind-boggling and somewhat enraging as the final scene was…I don’t care what he did or does or plans to do. It’s this moment right here that matters more than anything.
This man loves this woman with all of his heart and he knows he’s screwed up dozens of times in his life but his love for this brave, headstrong lady is powerful. It’s transformative. It’s true fucking love, everyone.
Now, we’ve seen lots of examples of true love on this show…but nothing quite like what these two have. Here, you have someone who has lived a long, long life full of pain and torment and cruelty. A life that is steeped in dark magic and revolves around deal-making, taking away what is precious to people, and being feared by almost everyone. He is no Prince Charming. Not at all. Not even close. And yet, somehow, incredibly, he finds True Love.
This young woman, so much younger than him, so different from him, comes in to his life. She is all bravery to his cowardice, she is all enthusiasm to his cynicism, she is all light to the Dark One.
Though it’s not picturesque and beautiful like Snow and Charming’s, or even innocent and enchanting like Dreamy and Nova’s, the love between these two characters is incredibly true and incredibly powerful. It begins to change him almost immediately, and not just in that their kiss can lift the curse that makes his appearance somewhat disconcerting, his whole attitude begins to change as he falls in love with Belle.
Then, of course, his dark, fearful, selfish side led him to drive her away. He believed he lost her. He recognized what he’d done. And he never stopped mourning. In that way, her love continued to change him and influence him, even though he thought she was dead.
Now, we see them reunited. We have true, definite, undeniable confirmation of the love they have for each other, in spite of everything. He’s, for all intents and purposes, an old man with a bum leg and a bad attitude, and she’s a twenty-something year old girl who’s spent the last 28 years locked in the basement of a hospital with no idea of what was happening to her, they’re in the middle of a forest, a powerful curse is breaking, there’s still an evil queen to deal with, a town full of bewildered fairy tale characters is coming to their senses, and the last time they saw each other he threw her out of his castle after locking her in a dungeon….and yet their joy at being reunited, at being able to simply hug each other, is practically explosive.
Yes, he then goes off and reintroduces magic to a land that isn’t supposed to have it. But she is with him. They’re together. And I really doubt that they’re about to let each other go again any time soon, even if what he did was a decidedly Bad Decision.

Yes, “magic is power”.
But True Love is the most powerful magic there is.

It’s going to take time, but Belle’s love will continue to change him, now that he’s truly accepted it and admits he reciprocates is.
Eventually, he’s going to realize that the love he and Belle share is all the power he needs.

And, before anyone asks, yes

I AM FUCKING PISSED AT RUMPLE FOR BRINGING MAGIC BACK.

But, you know, I understand it.

He just wants to make sure he can protect what he loves, more so than ever now that he has Belle back.

HE’S NOT TRYING TO HURT ANYONE. (I mean….other than Regina….but she locked Belle in a cell for 28 years so, um, she fucking deserves whatever she gets next season)

Yes, magic being back makes Storybrooke more dangerous. It means Regina will have power again. BUT SO WILL RUMPLE. So will everyone else. Their combined efforts will bring her down I’m sure of it.

At this point I just want to make sure that Belle isn’t TOO pissed at Rum for doing what he did….I mean it was stupid and unnecessary…..but she’s already proved she loves him despite his GLARING FLAWS right? (just like we Dearies do…)

Plus, now that he has magic back….chances are he’s going to try really REALLY hard to find Baelfire.

He just wants to make sure he can’t get hurt again. O__O Okay?

So I’d better not see any Rumple-hatred in the tag over the next few days because, gorramit, YOU PEOPLE CAN JUSTIFY REGINA. AFTER ALL OF THE PURELY EVIL, MALICIOUS SHIT SHE HAS DONE JUST BECAUSE A SEVEN YEAR OLD MADE A MISTAKE. YOU HAD SURE AS HELL BE ABLE TO AT LEAST FORGIVE A MAN, WHO HAS HAD NOTHING BUT TERRIBLE THINGS HAPPEN TO HIM FOR HIS ENTIRE LIFE, FOR DOING SOMETHING THAT HE FEELS WILL HELP THOSE HE LOVES.

Opening the library, Beauty took a book, and read these words in letters of gold:

Welcome, Beauty. Banish fear.
You are queen and mistress here.
Speak your wishes, speak your will.
Swift obedience meets them still.

- Jeanne-Marie LePrince de Beaumont (Beauty and the Beast)
